Who We Are

Charitable Giving

We are a group of individuals who have come together through our interest in the life and teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba, a saint who lived in India in the early 1900s. Pre-lockdown we would come together as a community every Thursday evening to recite a chapter from Shri Sai Satcharita, a book that gives practical examples of how to conduct oneself and live in this life, by relating the life and many teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba. The book is read to remind all who attend what the purpose of our life is and to connect with other like-minded individuals. This reminder is increasingly important in a world that is full of distractions and complexities. It was a weekly momentary slowdown to reflect and remind oneself that we are here to serve one another. The meetings are open to all and were such that all who attended would leave with some nuggets, or gems, of wisdom and would, almost certainly, leave with more peace in their mind and with prashad (food that is first offered to God and then shared out amongst devotees).

Post-Lockdown, we are pleased to be able to offer an adapted version of our Aarti & Darshan evenings that takes into account all of the new government guidelines regarding places of worship, full details of which can be found in the communications below:

Aarti & Darshan Evening Re-commences

30th July 2020

SaiRam All,

We hope you are all keeping well with Baba’s Grace. As you are aware we have always had the aspiration to find a permanent home for Baba in Slough. It continues to be our intention to make this happen with your help and with the support of the community. In the interim, Sai Seva UK are delighted to announce that we have now found a temporary venue to continue with Darshan and Aarthi every Thursday.

Previously you may have visited Wexham Parish Hall, which was hosted in support with SHITAL. The new venue is more central for all our devotees with the added advantage of being on the ground floor level with ample parking spaces and will be bought to you solely by Sai Seva UK, part of Dwarkamai Ltd.

New Venue:

Langley College

Station Road

Slough – SL3 8BY

Whilst we want to take a step towards opening up our own community mandir for Baba one day, we are very mindful of the current situation and the strict guidelines we all have to follow to keep each other safe. To this end, we have drafted a policy to ensure our safety and give everyone the opportunity to be part of our weekly routine. A copy of the measures we have put in place is attached for your reference and we also intend to have a video showing the venue and the measures implemented for you to see before your visit. We do have to make it mandatory for everyone to please wear face masks to protect our community 🙏🏼.

Sai Seva UK volunteers are working on a number of initiatives to bring the community together, increase visibility of Baba’s presence in Slough and beyond and ultimately find a permanent home for Baba. More updates will be released over the coming months, as we work towards achieving this community goal. All this is only possible with your continued help and support.

  • We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, 06 August from 6:30pm at Langley College to seek Baba’s blessings.

Reminder for new Aarti & Darshan Procedure

4th August 2020

Om Sai Ram

Dear Devotees,

Following last weeks announcement that Baba’s Aarti & Darshan will be resuming from this week, Thursday 6th August, and the video showing devotees how the program will work in this post-COVID era, we would like to remind Baba’s devotees of a few basic ground rules to ensure the safe running of the Aarti & Darshan evening for all in attendance:

  • Please ensure that all members of your family are wearing face masks every Thursday. Entrance will be refused if you, or members of your family do not have suitable face coverings.

  • Please follow social distancing guidelines at all times. There will be markings on the floor to help guide you through to take Darshan.

  • Please have your Track & Trace information ready to provide to the Sai Seva UK volunteer on arrival at Langley College. This is a government requirement and must be adhered to in order to reduce the risk of more outbreaks in future. Below is an example of the information that you will be asked to provide each Thursday before removing your shoes and entering the hall for Darshan.

  • Hand sanitisation stations will be located on entry, before meeting Baba and on exit from the prayer room, with signs as reminders and volunteers on hand to remind you as well, so please ensure to use the hand sanitisers when you see them or when prompted.

  • Please do not bring any Parshad or Offerings, as we will be unable to distribute these to other devotees, due to the risk of contamination. The Sai Seva UK volunteers will take care of all of the necessary arrangements to ensure Baba has everything He needs.

  • We would appreciate and encourage your support by contributing to the hundi provided, as all donations will go towards the continuation of Baba’s Thursday Aarti and the ultimate goal of opening a permanent community mandir for Baba 🙏🏼

  • Please supervise your children to ensure all safety measures can be adhered to.

  • Volunteers will be on hand to guide you through the venue safely and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Whilst we want to take a step towards opening up our own community mandir for Baba one day, we are very mindful of the current situation and the strict guidelines we all have to follow to keep each other safe. We have created a video, which you can view here, which shows the venue and the measures that have been implemented in line with the government guidelines. We do have to make it mandatory for everyone to please wear face masks to protect our community 🙏🏼.

More updates will be released over the coming months, as we work towards achieving this community goal. All this is only possible with your continued help and support.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you all for Aarti & Darshan on Thursday 6th August 2020 at Langley College (SL3 8BY) at 6:30pm.
